Things Henry Wishes You’d Stop Vacuuming
A friendly reminder from Henry (and the rest of the dry vacuum family).
Henry has spent over 40 years happily helping families tackle everyday messes. Crumbs? No problem. Pet hair? Bring it on.
But every now and then, Henry gets asked to tackle something that leaves him thinking, “Really?”
To keep Henry smiling (and cleaning at his best), here are a few things he’d much rather you left alone.
Water
Henry loves cleaning… but swimming isn’t one of his talents.
Although it might be tempting to vacuum up a spilled drink instead of reaching for the mop, Henry is designed for dry messes only. Water can damage the filter, soak the dust bag and potentially affect the motor.
If there’s a puddle on the floor, George is more than happy to step in.
Plaster Dust
This is one that catches plenty of DIY enthusiasts out.
Plaster dust is incredibly fine and quickly blocks the fibres inside Henry’s HepaFlo Filter bag, restricting airflow and reducing suction. It can also clog the filter, making Henry work much harder than he needs to.
Henry enjoys helping with DIY… just preferably after the messy bits are over.
Scented Vacuum Beads
The internet is full of cleaning hacks, but not all of them are Henry approved.
Scented beads and powders may promise a fresher-smelling home, but they can leave residue inside the vacuum and clog the filtration system.
The easiest way to keep Henry smelling fresh is much simpler—replace the dust bag regularly, look after the filter and let Henry do what he does best. No perfume required.
Buckets of Sand
A little sand from shoes isn’t a problem.
An entire bucketful is.
Large amounts of sand are heavy, abrasive and can quickly fill the dust bag. Sweep up the worst of it first, then let Henry finish the job.
Hot Ashes
Henry likes a challenge.
Glowing embers are not one of them.
Hot ashes should never be vacuumed, as they can damage the machine and pose a fire risk.
Henry may be brave… but he’s not fireproof
Fine Powders
Henry loves cleaning up after you’ve finished baking. He just doesn’t fancy inhaling an entire bag of flour.
Fine powders such as flour, plaster dust, cement dust, talcum powder can clog his HepaFlo Filter bag, restrict airflow. If enough pressure builds up, the pressure inside the bag can cause it to pop, leaving Henry wearing more dust than he collected.
That’s one baking disaster Henry would rather not be part of.
Things Henry Absolutely Loves
Now for the fun part.
Because while Henry has a short list of things he’d rather avoid, there are plenty of jobs he can’t wait to get stuck into.
Hair Bobbles
Henry has collected enough hair bobbles over the years to open his own accessory shop.
How they end up under every sofa, bed and kitchen cabinet remains one of life’s greatest mysteries.
LEGO Bricks
Henry doesn’t love vacuuming LEGO…
He just seems to find it before your bare feet do.

Socks… Apparently
Not because he wants to vacuum them.
They just have an uncanny ability to leap towards the floor tool the second your back is turned.
If you’ve ever wondered where all the odd socks go… Henry’s staying suspiciously quiet.
Loose Change
Every clean is basically a treasure hunt.
A few 20ps here, a rogue pound coin there…
Give it long enough and Henry might just pay for his own vacuum bags.
Pet Hair
Unlike the dog, Henry actually enjoys chasing it.
Whether it’s the Labrador’s latest moult or enough cat fluff to knit another cat, Henry is always happy to lend a hose.
Henry’s Happy Place
Real homes aren’t spotless—and Henry wouldn’t have it any other way.
He’s happiest helping with muddy footprints, breakfast crumbs, pet hair and all the little messes that come with family life.
Just do him one small favour…
Leave the plaster dust, puddles and bags of flour to someone else.
He’s smiling… but even Henry has his limits.
